BISHOP ROMERO SAID IN HIS LAST HOMILY
As Bishop Romero said in his last homily of 1989 at Christmas time it can not be "strong peace if there is not truth" that feeds it. If we analyze the principle that truth is the strength of peace, then we must reflect on where are the weaknesses of our peace?
In the name of all the people that are struggling in their lives, in the name of justice and peace, I invite all of you to work towards the truth and sincerity in your lives so that we don't only say words and promises, but truly put our efforts to make real what we see and what we should do and could do for our partners in the South and for our country Canada.
Remember, solidarity isn't throwing a party to raise alms twice a year! We shouldn't merely be giving alms, but should truly have mercy and compassion on others as Bishop Romero did. I believe that in order to deepen our solidarity, we must first discover within ourselves, what are the oppressions that oppress us?
A real understanding of our organizations and support will only become durable, truthful, and profound only if we are capable of criticizing ourselves to see the reality of our world and others.
Bishop Romero said "My voice will disappear but my words will be heard in the hearts of every suffering people." We continue hearing his voice through all the brothers and sisters in this house.
